Planning a Caribbean beach getaway this summer? Don’t just head back to the same ol’ beach and all-inclusive resort you’ve frequented every year. Discover something brand-new, with one of these expert-picked, best Caribbean beaches to visit. (Summer 2022)
Eagle Beach, Aruba
If you’ve yet to visit the ABC Islands in the southern Caribbean, there’s no better time. In fact, there’s never a bad time to visit this string of three islands that sit outside of the Caribbean Hurricane Belt. Regardless of the month or season, you can always rely on them to offer pristine weather with very little risk of a hurricane canceling your travel plans.
Aruba is the “A” in the ABC Islands and features a world-famous beach: Eagle Beach. It’s unsurprising that this beach gets a top nod for yet another year, due to its white sand, breezy shoreline and native fofoti trees.
Grand Anse Beach, Grenada
If you like visiting the beach during your Caribbean vacation, but you really aren’t the type to spend all day, every day, of your vacay in the sand, you’ll like what Grenada offers. The Spice Island boasts the beautiful Grand Anse Beach, with its turquoise waters and mountain views of the rest of the island, but it’s within close distance of other attractions as well. So, if you bore of the beach and the views, as gorgeous as they are, you can check out the shopping and dining nearby with ease.
Maho Beach, Sint Maarten
Like Eagle Beach on Aruba, Maho Beach on Sint Maarten is a long-time favorited Caribbean beach for travelers as well, gaining recognition year after year. This year is no different.
However, don’t expect to see undeveloped, rain forest-esque views here. That’s not the draw. Instead, the golden sands and cerulean waters give you a prime spot for watching airplanes landing at the adjacent airport. The planes appear nearly close enough to touch and draw in spectators who aren’t even there for the beach.
Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos
If you’ve ever vacationed in Turks and Caicos, you’re probably familiar with Grace Bay Beach. The three-mile stretch of sand is a favorite spot for hotels and resorts. However, even if you’re not staying in this particular area, you’ll still find the beach worth visiting. Remarkably quiet for its popularity and just as beautiful as any other beach on our list, it’s the place to go on Turks and Caicos.
Rendezvous Beach, Montserrat
If you’re looking for a beach destination that’s truly remote and intimate, try Rendezvous Beach on Montserrat. The white sand beach is only accessible via boat, so it takes a little work to get there — which just helps to drive off the tourist hordes. A lush, greenery-covered cliffside overlooks the soft sands and the turquoise waters. If you tire of sunbathing and swimming, the rainforests beyond the beach offer extra fun, such as kayaking.
Cinnamon Bay Beach, St. John
There are many reasons why you might choose to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands this summer. The Territory is quick to visit without a passport, for one, and you can also find a bevy of direct flights to the destination, from most U.S. hub cities.
While the islands offer many, many beaches, Cinnamon Bay Beach is a favorite and is especially a good pick for those who like to stay active on the sands, versus just sitting and sunbathing. Walk along the coast, explore the greenery, swim, head under the waters for amazing snorkeling — and do it all with lush mountain views in the background.
Shark Creek Beach, The Bahamas
On Great Harbour Cay, in the Bahamas, Shark Creek is an excellent spot to explore if you love a little wading but could do without the waves. The beach is amazing — but you’ll want to take to the waters for the really unique experience. The shore features shallows that go out approximately half a mile, for near-endless wading, no waves allowed.
Boca Grandi Beach, Aruba
If you love Eagle Beach in Aruba, or maybe you’ve just already experienced it and are looking for something new on the island, Boca Grandi Beach is a good pick. Away from all the hotels and resorts and their tourists, this smaller beach is more isolated and more popular with kite surfers who are out to catch a wave. While the waters might be a bit rougher than what you’ll get elsewhere, the uninterrupted views are unprecedented, and the seclusion is superior.
Sandy Point Beach, St. Croix
Another top beach in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Sandy Point sits on St. Croix, one of the lesser-visited islands among the three main isles in the Territory and known for its cultural attractions and tasty cuisine. Sandy Point Beach is part of the Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge and it’s one of the longest beaches in the Territory.
Bathsheba Beach, Barbados
Barbados offers a plethora of gorgeous beaches, but for fewer crowds and amazing scenery, look no further than Bathsheba Beach. The rocky coastline is covered in mammoth boulders. Popular with surfers, the beach doesn’t draw too many families or others looking to kick back and relax, making it the perfect spot for discerning travelers looking for privacy to do so.
Pink Sand Beach, The Bahamas
Who doesn’t love a beach with vibrantly colored sands? On Harbour Island, in the Bahamas, you’ll find perfectly pink sands that shimmer and gleam in the sunlight, contrasting nicely with the aquamarine waters offshore. The beach is three miles long and near many restaurants, but Harbour Island is slightly less touristy than some of the other Bahamian islands, making for fewer crowds, but still enough amenities to keep you satisfied.
Half Moon Bay Beach, Antigua
On Antigua, Half Moon Bay Beach provides stunning scenery. The half-moon-shaped, white beach is lined with palm trees and other lush, rainforest-esque greenery, and the waters are a mix of rougher and calm, thanks to the beach’s shape, making for a good spot to go if half your party wants to swim and snorkel, and the other half wants to surf.
Condado Beach, Puerto Rico
For a beach near all the action, there’s nowhere to look other than Condado Beach in Puerto Rico. This easily visitable Territory’s main hub for all the fun in San Juan, Condado is filled with luxury hotels and resorts, and the beach is just the icing on the cake. For a mix of dining, drinking, beach-going and overall fun and lots of activity, this beach delivers.
