But what’s the story behind this unique brand? Here’s everything you need to know.
Rahaminov Heritage
This brand first came about in the 1940s, when the initial Rahaminov brothers worked at Buchara Diamonds, one of Israel’s first diamond cooperatives, as diamond cutters. However, the two brothers quickly saw the opportunity to strike out on their own, doing so in Italy. Afterward, one of the brothers’ daughters attended the Gemological Institute of America and met her husband there, and the two opened the Rahaminov Diamonds location in Los Angeles in the 1980s, which has since become the outpost that most are familiar with.
The Rahaminov Diamonds business is still very much so a family business, even in the 21st century. The third generation now works alongside the Los Angeles office founders and, uniquely, women are the driving force behind the brand’s modern evolution.
As Melanie Goldfiner, a member of this third generation, told Your Engagement 101 in an exclusive interview, “At Rahaminov Diamonds, we believe that every jewel is as rare as the woman who wears it, a sentiment that stems from the fact that our pieces are designed for women by women. My parents Tamara Rahaminov and Amir Goldfiner met while studying at the Gemological Institute of America and opened the Rahaminov Los Angeles office in 1989 (Rahaminov is a 70-year-old family-owned business which started in Israel) and steadily evolved it from a fine diamond house to a luxury brand of exquisite diamond jewelry. Tamara’s designs have received critical notice, winning numerous awards. Today, a third generation has come on board, with Nicol and myself, bringing their modern sensibilities to the Rahaminov Diamonds brand.”
What Does Rahaminov Offer?
Rahaminov offers a range of jewelry. If you’re looking specifically for a fancy-color diamond like J Lo’s, you’ll find that the brand offers diamonds in hues of blue, green, yellow and pink, set into bands, bracelets, earrings and necklaces.
Beyond this, Rahaminov also offers its Moval diamond collection. The Moval-branded diamonds are exclusively available through the brand and are touted as being cut to specific proportions to maximize “beauty, life and brilliance.” The elongated oval diamonds offer a look similar to what you might see in a marquise or oval, just with the best of both in one stone. Every Moval diamond is different, as it’s cut based on the diamond’s rough features.
